Ronnie R. Felts - Doctor of Pharmacy
Ronnie R. Felts, D.Ph., received his degree in Chemistry and Biology from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. He also attended Memphis State University and completed his first year of Pharmacy School at Mercer University College of Pharmacy in Atlanta. He then attended The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in Memphis where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy in 1974. He opened Joelton Prescription Shop just two weeks after graduation where he continues to practice for over 44 years. He served as a consultant and team member for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Drug Diversion Task Force. He also serves as a preceptor and adjunct faculty professor of pharmacy practice for four of the state’s pharmacy schools. He teaches pharmacy practice for Belmont University College of Pharmacy, Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy and East Tennessee State University College of Pharmacy and The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy for P1, P2, P3 and P4 students. He teaches students on site the disciplines of pharmacy, patient counseling techniques, business management, and how to manage and operate a community pharmacy Secundum Artem (according to the art of the apothecary). He also has served as a guest lecturer for the Belmont and Lipscomb Community Pharmacy Management programs.
Dr. Felts and Joelton Prescription Shop have been featured in two national pharmacy publications. He was featured in Drug Topics Magazine as being one of the "INDEPENDENT SUPERSTARS – THE ONES TO WATCH" where he received recognition for exceptional pharmacy services and handling a crisis. He is also featured in the October 2011 issue of America’s Pharmacist in an article recognizing "SIX SUPER PHARMACIES" in Tennessee. In addition to numerous award, Dr. Felts received the prestigious Bowl of Hygeia, which is given to one pharmacist in one state every year.
Dr. Felts is passionate about the practice and the profession of pharmacy. He enjoys the interaction and involvement of his association with the students, the pharmacy schools, and their role in the practice of pharmacy. He also takes great pride in serving five generations of some families at Joelton Prescription Shop. He has artfully combined the timeless principles of patient care and interaction with the convenience, technology, and precision the twenty first century demands without sacrificing the personal home-town pharmacist approach. Dr. Felts continues to pursue his own education and has certification in hypertension, asthma and diabetes.
